POKOTABI / Uchida Syokudo
家庭居酒屋 うちだ食堂
At Uchida Syokudo in Hanakawado, Asakusa, enjoy home-style cooking ranging from daytime set meals with crisp mackerel tatsuta-age and fried chicken to evening small plates and drinks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked just off the street in Hanakawado, Uchida Syokudo serves hearty, home-style fare in a clean, tidy setting. At lunch, counter and table seats quickly fill with diners ordering set meals prepared with care upon request. Staples include crisp mackerel tatsuta-age with a delightfully crunchy crust, juicy Japanese-style fried chicken, and tender ginger pork glazed in a refined savoury sauce.
When deciding on just one main proves difficult, the restaurant's half-and-half combo meal lets you select two mains on a single tray. Pairing a meat dish with fish offers the best of both worlds, accompanied by freshly steamed rice, miso soup, a small side dish, and pickles. Diners can also easily tailor their meal by adding raw egg or natto on the side.
Come evening, the dining room doubles as an easygoing izakaya, serving draft Asahi Super Dry, bottled Maruef, lemon sours, and shochu alongside an array of small bites. Guests can nibble on burdock chips, potato salad, or boiled pork over drinks, while non-drinkers can settle in with a dedicated evening set meal. It is a calm, welcoming spot where solo diners feel entirely at ease sitting down to a comforting everyday dinner.
